ARMS DRAMATICS THEATER CLUB- The A.R.M.S. Dramatics Theater
Club began in 1995 with a request from a student to produce a student written
play. Little did we know that our theater club would go on to present
productions of Oliver!, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Adventures of Tom
Sawyer, The Crucible, Number the Stars and Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet
with our actors and actresses in true Elizabethan form!
Our theater club's mission is to provide 6th, 7th, and 8th
grade ARMS students with opportunities to learn to work collaboratively to
produce and present quality performances for our school and town communities.
Our student centered club allows students to choose to work on stage and/or
behind the scenes and stresses problem solving and decision making skills.
Also, each year we welcome Dramatics Alumni from the Athol High
School who return to the middle school to volunteer for the Dramatics Theater
Club. These students are great role models and serve as wonderful mentors for
our middle school students.
After we have performed our own production and as part of the
Dramatics Theater Club experience, our group plans and attends a professional
performance in Boston. Needless to say, fund raising and marketing have become
part of the Dramatics experience as well !
